Uniquely Thai Design Competition: Civic Center in 21st Century Bangkok (Uniquely Thai Envisioning the 21st Century Bangkok’s Civic Center Architectural Design Competition 2021)

The "Uniquely Thai Civic Center in the 21st Century" design competition aims to discover innovative design ideas that can create a new cultural destination showcasing the charm of Thai culture to the world. Over 449 teams, comprising more than 1,108 participants, including students from various institutions and the general public, expressed their interest in joining the competition.

Throughout the three-month competition, participants gained new knowledge and inspiration to enhance their creative ideas through a "Lecture Series" featuring renowned national and international speakers. Topics included Civic Center in the 21st Century: Philosophy and Case Studies by Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei (MJS), a panel discussion on Urban Development: Modern City Development in the 21st Century with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pirath Kaewlai, Asst. Prof. Pongporn Sudbanthad, and Mr. Wiphatra Tohtemchokchai, as well as a lecture on Sustainable Architecture: Designing Future Architecture for Sustainability by Toby Blunt, Senior Partner & Deputy Head of Studio at Foster + Partners.

The Civic Center design competition has now reached the finals, where a panel of esteemed judges from Creative Lab, MQDC, CDAST, and leading national and international organizations meticulously reviewed all submissions. Ultimately, 18 teams advanced to the final presentation round, which includes:
